Joanne Beveridge is the Programme Director/Cohort Lead/Senior Lecturer for Dental Care Professionals based at the Edinburgh Dental Institute.


Joanne is a dually qualified Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist and has been working in the dental field since 1997.

During her career Joanne has worked in various clinical settings throughout the UK. Her interest in teaching began during her time as a tutor at Kings College in London. In 2009, she was appointed as Lecturer in Oral Health Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, and completed her MSc in Clinical Education from the University in 2013. Joanne is also an experienced external examiner and enjoys meeting staff and students within other institutions.

Alongside her lecturing duties she continues to treat patients in private practice and is an educational associate with the General Dental Council.

Research interests

Joanne has a keen interest in clinical education and adult periodontology. In 2014, she was involved in setting up a theoretical and practical dentistry programme for students at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. The programme was successful and has now been running on annual basis.
